Chrome and Edge extension

Pauses fake "your computer is locked" pages, and offers a second look before risky payments.

Install it

  1. In Chrome, open the Chrome Web Store page. In Edge, open Edge Add-ons.
  2. Press Add to Chrome (or Get in Edge), then confirm.
  3. Click the puzzle piece next to the address bar and pin PonchoGuard, so its icon is easy to find.

What it does

  • On a fake "your computer is locked, call Microsoft" page, it shows PonchoGuard paused this page. Press Close this page.
  • On gift card, crypto, wire and money-app pages, it offers Ask my family to Cosign. Press I'm OK, hide this to hide it on that site for a day.
  • Click the icon to see Watching this browser, and to turn Fake virus warnings and Before you pay on or off.

Connect it to your family (optional)

  1. In the family dashboard, open Settings, then Computers and browsers. Type a Name of the browser and press Get the code.
  2. In the extension, open Settings. Paste the code under Family code and press Connect.
  3. To undo it later, press Disconnect.

Pages are checked on the computer. Their words and addresses never leave it. When connected, the family only hears whether a paused page was closed or kept open.
